At Alberta Whisky Cake, we celebrate the spirit, heritage, and craftsmanship of Alberta through beautifully handcrafted cakes infused with locally distilled Alberta rye whisky. Inspired by the wide-open prairies, the warmth of community, and the tradition of meaningful gift-giving, every cake is created to be more than a dessert—it is an experience meant to be shared.
About Alberta Whisky Cake
Founded by Kamla McGonigal in July 2010, Alberta Whisky Cake began with a simple yet inspired vision: to create a uniquely Albertan gift that reflected the character, hospitality, and pride of the province she loved so deeply. Today, we continue that tradition with our two signature cakes: The Whisky Runner, a rich and decadent chocolate whisky cake, and The Malted Maple, a comforting maple-infused creation that celebrates Canada's most iconic flavour.
Every Alberta Whisky Cake is carefully packaged and presented with a limited-edition Artist Card featuring the work of a local emerging artist. Through our Unbridled Spirits provincial artist program, we proudly support Alberta's creative community by sharing the stories and talents of artists alongside our own handcrafted creations. We believe that art, like great food, has the power to bring people together, spark conversation, and create lasting memories. We know it has for us.
Each cake is carefully heat-sealed to preserve its exceptional flavour and freshness. The result is a cake that's always ready to ship, effortless to gift, and requires no refrigeration while unopened—so you can celebrate life's moments whenever they arise.
Following Kamla's passing in September 2024, her sons, Jager and Ryan, proudly took the reins of the family business. Guided by their mother's vision, values, and unwavering commitment to quality, they continue her legacy with deep gratitude and respect for the business and recipe she crafted with care. Every cake we bake is a tribute to the care, craftsmanship, and Alberta pride that Kamla poured into the company from its very beginning.
